Give Your Kids the Creative Summer of Their Dreams at Play:groundNYC’s Summer Camp

Hard as it may be to believe, given our frigid temps, summer is on its way. And, if you’re looking for an innovative way to entertain your tots when school is out, consider signing them up for a camp session at play:groundNYC, Governors Island’s child’s play nonprofit.

This year, play:ground is offering 11 weeks of summer camp, with sessions running from June to September. The camp day kicks off at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. with drop-off and pickup at the Battery Maritime Building (10 South Street). Campers will spend the day exploring the Yard, the island’s construction-themed playground, where they can work with tools and building materials, or fine art and handcrafting materials. Plus they’ll have ample opportunity to explore the rest of Governors Island with staff.

Activities are almost exclusively outdoors, staff is vaccinated and masks are recommended. Sessions run $775/week and encompass a 1st through 6th grade age range, though there’s some flexibility in there. Register online, or visit the Yard on weekends starting in April.
