Last week’s fleeting blast of warm weather brought with it the reminder that outdoor summer concerts are right around the corner. While summer shows are a fixture all over the city, there are few better settings than the Rooftop at Pier 17, which kicks off its season on May 2. With a picturesque backdrop of the Lower Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, it’s no wonder every band wants to play here and everyone wants to see a show here (concerts are often sold out).
As always, this year’s lineup of more than 60 shows features something for everyone, from up-and-coming bands on the precipice of stardom to big established acts. Highlights include a two-night run from Belle and Sebastian on their 30th anniversary tour (a sentence sure to make you feel old!), The Breeders, Passion Pit, Rise Against and so many more.
Pop artist Mika officially kicks off the season on May 2. Ticket prices vary by artist and can be purchased through AXS. Check out this year’s lineup here.
