If you’re looking for a restaurant and bar that delivers all you could want for a steamy summer in the city, Sadie’s is just the place. Recently opened at 19 Fulton St. in the Seaport, Sadie’s specializes in New American comfort foods, with a weekday happy hour, daily brunch (because brunch should not be limited to the weekend), outdoor seating and a warm-weather ready Garden Bar.
Combining everyone’s two favorite parts of summer — outdoor seating and spritzes — the Garden Bar features a $10 Spritz Happy Hour Monday-Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., with Aperol, Hugo and limoncello spritzes available at a discount. Though it’s not a part of the happy hour deal, the ultra-refreshing cucumber spritz mocktail is also worth ordering on a hot day, especially if you’re trying to skip the booze. If the spritzes don’t tempt you, Sadie’s has plenty of other cocktail options, including the passion fruit mezcalita, Thai chili margarita, frosé and a “Cobblestone Cosmo.”
Sadie’s brunch menu features breakfast classics from buttermilk pancakes to avocado toast, but the skillet banana bread stands out as a must-try. It’s perfectly moist with crispy edges, and the dulce de leche is (literally) the cherry on top. You’ll also find a selection of salads, soup and sandwiches that come with excellently thin and crispy french fries.
Dinner leans more elevated, with appetizers ranging from seafood chowder to hush puppies. The list of mains include cacio e pepe, steak frites, Sadie’s burger, seared salmon, grilled chicken paillard and more. You’ll definitely want to leave some space for dessert, which includes highlights like strawberry shortcake, key lime pie and a vegan double chocolate cake.
Beyond the food and drinks, Sadie’s also doubles as a social hub. The Garden Bar’s giant outdoor TVs screen everything from baseball to reality shows, making it a great place to watch with friends and cheer on your favorite team. With the World Cup approaching, Sadie’s could be a prime downtown spot to watch the action. If sports aren’t your thing, there are Mahjong & Martinis Mondays, featuring a deal on a lesson or play plus a martini and fries, as well as Trivia Night Tuesdays, where you and your friends can compete for a discounted tab. And if you’re looking for a party, head over for happy hour on Summer Fridays, when Sadies will host live music and DJs to get folks hyped for the weekend.
Whether you’re heading downtown for brunch, happy hour or a night out with friends, Sadie’s makes a strong case for becoming a go-to summer spot. See the full menu and make a reservation here.
