The Skyscraper Museum’s March Events Will Have Your Tots Reaching for the Sky

The Skyscraper Museum (39 Battery Pl.) is celebrating Women’s History Month with two free, in-person events for kids: “Maya Lin: Architect of Light and Lines” and “Be An Engineer, Just Like Rosie Revere!”

On Saturday, March 9 at 10:30 a.m., you and your young ones can learn about American architect and sculptor Maya Lin, who won the competition to design the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. in 1981 and has since designed many projects that explore environmental themes through sculpture and land art. At the event, “Maya Lin: Artist-Architect of Light and Lines” by Jeanne Walker Harvey will be read aloud for the group, then you and your family can create your own collages of landscapes you want to design someday. The free event is recommended for children six and up; all children must be accompanied by an adult. Sign up to attend here.

On Saturday, March 23 at 10:30 a.m., bring the whole family to a read-aloud of Andrea Beaty’s “Rosie Revere, Engineer,” to learn about the role of engineers and flex your creativity to build tall structures with everyday materials. The free event, which you can register for here, is recommended for children three and up; all children must be accompanied by an adult.
