Now that the holidays and all their cheer are behind us, all we’re left with is a headache and the kind of temperatures that make you not want to go outside. Why leave your apartment when you could stay home in your slippers? Well, there are many good reasons to visit Wall Street Bath & Spa 88 at 88 Fulton St. (colloquially referred to as Spa 88), and slippers just happen to be an added bonus. The old-school Lower Manhattan bathhouse has been serving New Yorkers — celebrities, executives and regular joes — for decades, and the price is still comparatively affordable, starting at just $59.75 for a day pass.
A day pass to the multi-level spa gives you all-day access to its facilities and lockers, plus towels, slippers and those cute banya hats to don throughout your chill time. The spa’s twisty hallways reveal different opportunities to relax at every turn, so you can easily spend hours here. With a pool, an infrared sauna, a traditional stone sauna, a cold plunge pool, a jacuzzi and a steam room for extra scrub or platza treatments, there’s no way you won’t leave feeling warmer and fuzzier smoother.
Its in-house restaurant, Matryoshka, offers a huge menu of Eastern European eats like borscht, varenicki and pelmeni dumplings, just to name a few. There’s also a juice bar for fresh-squeezed juices, teas and infused vodkas to cure whatever ails you.
Spa 88 is open daily from noon to 10:30 p.m. and only accepts walk-ins for a day pass, but you can make reservations for massages and other treatments ahead of time.
