The Brand-New Wall Street Hotel Has Old-School Lower Manhattan Appeal

Pearl Street just got a pearl of a new place to stay: The Wall Street Hotel just opened this month, giving visitors a chance to bask in old Financial District glamour. It doesn’t stop there: The property is owned by an Australian pearl jewelry dynasty that has added even more shiny luxury touches and other details to enhance your stay.

The hotel, located at 88 Wall Street between Pearl and Water, welcomes guests to its 180 rooms that start at about $500 per night, according to Bloomberg. Guests will be swimming in history as well as luxury: the repurposed office building was once a mercantile space, connecting the hotel to Lower Manhattan’s history as a trading post. You’ll be blasted with grandeur right from the entry — the living room in the entrance has 26-foot cathedral ceilings with custom wallpaper murals depicting the evolving architecture of New York City.

Guests and the public will be treated to a bar called The Lounge and a restaurant called by John Fraser called La Marchande — ”merchant,” in French. La Marchande opens on June 7 and will feature a raw bar and a hearty, lengthy menu, according to the New York Times.

The owners of the hotel are the Paspaley family, Australian jewelers who were attracted to the oyster-gathering history of Pearl Street. They included references to pearls throughout the property in key fobs, half-shell bottle openers and a partnership with the Billion Oyster Project. Art around the halls and in the rooms will feature indigenous Australian artists. Be among the first to book your stay.
