Red Cube, by Isamu Noguchi
Overview
Standing on one of 140 Broadway's corners is "Red Cube." The bright sculpture's diagonal tilt draws the eye upward, and its hollowed-out center exposes a gray cylindrical core. Isamu Noguchi, a renowned Japanese landscape architect, sculpted this piece back in 1968 to emphasize the connection between public art and architecture — imbuing meaning and drama to the spaces around buildings.
