Alliance for Downtown New York Statement on July 4th Fireworks Returning to the East River

Statement by Jessica Lappin, President of the Alliance for Downtown New York:

“The return of Fireworks to the East River is exciting news for so many New Yorkers. Residents in Lower Manhattan as well as many in Brooklyn and Queens will once again get to enjoy a front row seat to one of New York’s, and the nation’s, proudest traditions.

“I heartily applaud Mayor DeBlasio’s decision to yearly alternate the location of the celebration between the East and Hudson Rivers. This plan helps bring the pride, and the economic benefits, of our nation’s birthday celebration to more of our city’s neighborhoods. Thanks also go to Macy’s for their flexibility and enlightened stewardship of this great event.”
