Dine Around Downtown: Cooking At Home Returns With Three New Restaurants

The Alliance for Downtown New York, the nonprofit business improvement district for Lower Manhattan, continues its Dine Around Downtown: Cooking At Home series featuring James Beard Award-winning chef and New York Times-bestselling author Rocco DiSpirito with three new episodes featuring Crown Shy (Jan 28), Nobu Downtown (Feb 11) and Fraunces Tavern (Feb 25).

Participants can register for the upcoming episodes at downtownny.com/dinearound-at-home.

The series, broadcast via Zoom raises money for food-security charities and provides viewers at home with exciting recipes. DiSpirito will once again present local Lower Manhattan chefs as they demonstrate easy-to-replicate dishes from their restaurants. All the events are free to join, but participants are encouraged to donate to a fund of the restaurant’s choice.

On January 28 at 4 p.m. ET, Executive Chef James Kent will lead off the new episodes with Crown Shy’s acclaimed Crown Bird Dinner, replete with habanero- and citrus-marinated chicken and three dipping sauces. Sous Chef India Doris will join Kent and show how to make their kale caesar salad as well as her own spin on macaroni and cheese.

Additionally, participants are encouraged to make the dishes themselves and post photos of their plates on Instagram, tagging #DineAroundAtHome and @downtownnyc for a chance to win a personal 30-minute cooking class with the featured chef.

The series launched last year to replace the Alliance’s annual lunchtime food festival and has featured seven local restaurants and directed donations to seven different food charities. All past episodes of Dine Around Downtown: Cooking At Home can be viewed on the Downtown Alliance YouTube Channel.
