You Can Get Satisfaction: Lower Manhattan’s Workforce

Since the pandemic, businesses across the city have struggled to encourage in-person work. In collaboration with BVA BDRC, the Downtown Alliance conducted a survey of Lower Manhattan office workers about their satisfaction and motivation to return to work based on neighborhood attributes. The results suggest that the neighborhood’s exceptional transit access, diverse office stock and attractive public spaces are key factors in employee satisfaction and willingness to return to the office — confirming the long-held belief among real estate and business leaders that Lower Manhattan offers a strong competitive advantage for employers.
Lower Manhattan workers gave the neighborhood high marks for its accessibility, vibrancy and safety, citing public transit access, building amenities and the neighborhood’s beautiful water views among reasons to love working downtown.
