Small Business Spotlight: Martin Busch Jewelers
By: Heather Ducharme
Small businesses are an integral part of the Lower Manhattan community. In anticipation of Small Business Saturday (Nov 24), we’re introducing you to a local Lower Manhattan business on our new Instagram TV series “Small Business Spotlight” (check it out on mobile) and on our blog every week.
What’s better than celebrating 25 years of business? Celebrating over 50 years of business! Martin Busch Jewelers, currently located at 85 John Street, has been dazzling downtowners with their stunning jewelry since 1954.
This full-service mom n’ pop store originally owned by “Marty” Busch sells and repairs jewelry, creates custom designs, and restores and repairs watches.
Maria and Eva Busch, Marty’s niece and great niece respectively, run the woman-owned store as a mother and daughter duo. They love being a part of special moments from engagements to birthdays to the arrival of a new baby.
“People come to see us to celebrate things and that’s really something you don’t get in other businesses,” says Eva, a Downtown resident herself. “One of my favorite things to sell is when women come in to buy jewelry when they get a promotion. It’s just awesome, I couldn’t ask for a better job.”
The pair pride themselves on having a variety of different styles in stock. Whether you like a classic feel or something bold that makes a statement, Martin Busch has something that will catch your eye.
Leading up to the holidays, Martin Busch hosts events to help you buy that special gift for yourself or a loved one. November 16 is “Ladies’ Night” where women can come in and enjoy drinks, snacks, and giveaways all while filling out their holiday wishlists.
The store also participates in Small Business Saturday on November 24 where customers can enjoy free jewelry cleaning in addition to a “sip n shop” with mimosas, sparkling juice and 20% off all full-priced items.
