The 9/11 Memorial & Museum Is Reopening

The 9/11 Memorial & Museum (180 Greenwich Street) is scheduled for reopening to the public on September 12. As with other Lower Manhattan museum reopening announcements, the center is adopting several safety precautions to ensure the indoor space can accommodate visitors and staff alike in the COVID era.

Such accommodations include:

  • Requiring all visitors to wear masks
  • Reducing capacity to 25 percent to allow for proper spacing
  • Reduced operating hours to ensure deep cleansing between visiting sessions
  • All tickets must be purchased in advance
  • One-way path through the museum will be enforced and select areas of the museum will remain closed

The museum will be open five days a week (Thursday-Friday, 12p-7p; Saturday-Monday, 10a-5p). The museum will remain closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You can find more information on health guidelines and ticketing details here.

And don’t forget: This year’s “A Tribute in Light” ceremony is set to commemorate the lives lost during the attacks on September 11. The memorial will be open on September 11 to family members of victims of the 9/11 attacks, and the memorial encourages buildings citywide to light up in blue to express solidarity.
