Bird-Watching At The Battery Returns On Wednesday Mornings

With nearly six million vaccinations administered in the city and the weather becoming tolerable on a regular basis, New Yorkers are on the lookout for more outdoor activities in which they can safely participate, and the Battery Conservancy has answered the call with free bird walks.

You can explore the diversity of migrating birds that live and forage for food at the Battery during guided tours with an experienced birder and naturalist on Wednesdays, beginning April 21. The tours begin at 8 a.m. RSVPs are required, and the groups are limited to fewer than 15 people to ensure social distancing.

Participants are expected to wear masks, maintain social distancing and refrain from sharing binoculars or other equipment.

The walks will be led by Gabriel Willow, an NYC Audubon educator who has been leading walks for the group for 10 years and is an expert in the ecology and history of the city.
