Bar And Restaurant Curfews To Extend To Midnight
The city that never sleeps has been a little sleepier over the last year, thanks in part to an 11 p.m. curfew for bars and restaurants amid the Covid-19 pandemic. But we continue to edge ever-closer to a late-night return— starting on Monday, April 19, bars and restaurants can stay open until midnight.
Governor Cuomo announced this week that bars and restaurants will soon be able to offer an extra hour of revelry (and reap an extra hour of business). The curfew has been 11 p.m. since February, due to concerns that late-night drinking and eating will proliferate the spread of Covid.
Catered events and weddings can now run until 1 a.m.; previously, they were capped at midnight.
Infection numbers have been slowly dropping over the last few weeks, and vaccinations are on the rise, suggesting normalcy, or something like it, is on the horizon.
