The Staten Island Ferry Is Resuming Pre-Pandemic Service

Good news for Staten Island residents and lovers of free boat trips: After 15 months of slashed service due to the pandemic, the Staten Island Ferry will resume its full schedule in August.

“The Staten Island Ferry is a lifeline for Staten Islanders,” Mayor de Blasio said in a statement this week. “It’s crucial to bringing the recovery to Staten Island.”

In other good commuting news: the NYC Ferry will expand to Staten Island this summer. Unlike the SI Ferry, this route isn’t free, but it does provide access to more of the city, with new stops on this route at Saint George, Battery Park City and Midtown West.

And as a reminder, Lower Manhattan has multiple new Citi Bike stations, so it’s easy to get to/from the ferry of your choosing no matter your location.
