Artists Turned a Former Dunkin’ Into an Innovative Art Gallery

You can find a Dunkin’ in almost any neighborhood in Manhattan, but only one has a former Dunkin’ that’s been turned into an art gallery. 

Back in November Dunkunsthalle opened at 64 Fulton Street, bringing an intimate art gallery from artists Rachel Rossin, Kyle Clairmont Jacques and Moira Spahić to a Lower Manhattan location that formerly slung donuts and giant iced coffees. The name Dunkunsthalle is a mashup of the mega-chain’s handle and kunsthalle, a German word that is used to describe a non-profit art space. 

Dunkunsthalle pays tribute to the colors and fonts of the national chain that formerly occupied it. According to Artnews, the operation is maintained under a donation structure, one that hopes to draw in donors from the art world and the neighboring community. Donor names will be displayed on a wall in the front of the gallery.
