The River to River Festival is back in Lower Manhattan (and Governors Island) for the 16th year!

Taking place from June 14 – 25 at 31 locations, this year’s festival features hundreds of performances and events that explore and celebrate diversity through dance, music, theater and visual arts. Festival-goers will also have the chance to interact with artists and learn more about their work and their creative process.

Some highlights from this year’s festival include A Marvelous Order, a multimedia opera about Robert Moses and Jane Jacobs; Harbored, a site-specific theatrical experience about immigration and the American Dream; Black Gotham Experience, a participatory project incorporating walking tours, a graphic novel, art installations, and a programmed hub; and A Supple Perimeter, an evolving, multidisciplinary solo exhibition.

Put on by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC), this year’s festival is dedicated to Trisha Brown and David Rockefeller, both of whom passed away in the last year. Brown was a pioneering artist and choreographer who was influential in the contemporary art community. In 1973, Rockefeller co-founded the LMCC with the belief that “artists are pillars of resilience and inspiration and are vital to New York City.” Rockefeller was also the founding chairman of the Downtown-Lower Manhattan Association.

While all events are free, some may require reservations. RSVPs for these events go live June 1. For more info and RSVP, click here.
