All’Antico Vinaio’s Mouthwatering Italian Sammies Are Ready for You to Mangia
Famed Florentine sandwich shop All’Antico Vinaio has amassed a cult following since making its Manhattan debut in 2021, and now we too can enjoy its delightful Italian delicacies. An outpost recently opened at Hudson Eats at Brookfield Place (225 Liberty St.), blessing Lower Manhattanites with what Saveur magazine once dubbed “the world’s best sandwiches.” Lunchtime has never looked so good.
We stopped by last week to sample some of the goods, and are happy to report All’Antico Vinaio lives up to the hype. The La Dante is a hefty combo of capocollo, stracchino, truffle cream and arugula on delicious fresh focaccia sprinkled with sea salt, and though it runs a steep $20, the sammie is big enough to split between two meals. Rich truffle cream balances out the mild (and fresh!) stracchino cheese and flavorful capocollo, and the arugula makes the sandwich pop. The Odd Couple — porchetta, gorgonzola and pistachio cream for $17 — was another big hit, and there are plenty more options on the menu.
The ingredients here are fresh — the meat is sliced right in front of you with an old-school deli slicer, and the meats, cheeses and other goodies are on display in a refrigerated case. You can pair your sandwich with refreshing italian limoncello and blood orange sodas, or opt for wines by the glass for a more luxe lunch experience.
Lines here can get a bit long but move quickly, and the shop is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. if you’re looking for an early (or very late!) meal. It’s also open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends. For more information, visit All’Antico Vinaio’s website.
