Join Walk ALS at the Seaport on May 3

Get your walking shoes ready, because Walk ALS New York City is coming back at the Seaport. On May 3, hundreds of participants will join the 1.5 mile walk to end ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) starting at Pier 16. The annual event brings families, caregivers and advocates to Lower Manhattan to support the fight to end ALS.
Walk ALS is the main fundraising event for ALS United Greater New York, one of the largest ALS organizations in the U.S. serving New York City, Long Island, Westchester, the Hudson Valley and northern and central New Jersey. ALS, often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” is a progressive neurodegenerative disease with no known cause and no cure. ALS United Greater New York supports research, patient and family care services, community education and public policy advocacy for this fatal disease. Donations help support families impacted and make progress toward a cure.
Check-in and registration for this year’s event will start at 9 a.m. The opening ceremony is set for 10:30 a.m. and the walk will start at 11 a.m. The entire walk route is wheelchair accessible.
There is no registration fee for this event, though fundraising is encouraged. Which means you can show your support by joining a team, starting a team or registering to participate as an individual. Everyone who meets the $100 fundraising minimum will receive a t-shirt. You can register to participate in, donate or volunteer for Walk ALS here.
