Zoom In and Learn How to Make Chinah’s Signature Mapo Tofu

The next installment in the Downtown Alliance’s “Dine Around Downtown: Cooking at Home Edition” comes Thursday, October 28, when Hegel Hei of Chinah (100 Maiden Lane) — aka the man who wants to change the way you think of Chinese food — shows participants how to make their signature Mapo Tofu.

The virtual tutorial is free and encourages donations to Chinah’s preferred food-security charity Heart of Dinner.

“Dine Around Downtown: Cooking at Home Edition” is hosted by award-winning chef Rocco DiSpirito and zooms into the kitchens of Lower Manhattan, where chefs share recipes and tips on everything from complex gastronomic delights to go-to comfort foods. Register now to reserve a space for the upcoming Chinah episode.

The series launched last summer with America’s first restaurant Delmonico’s, followed by a number of dining rooms including Gnoccheria, Taïm, Temple Court and Benares. All previous episodes are available on YouTube.
