Letter of Recommendation: City Hall Park

Letter of Recommendation: City Hall Park

September 3, 2025

September and October are indisputably the most beautiful months in New York City. That means that now is the perfect time to maximize your exposure to the outdoors, whether it be at an outdoor restaurant or one of downtown’s many tree-filled spaces. One spot to check out that might have escaped your radar? City Hall Park.

Located at the northern boundary of our district, City Hall Park is a true microcosm of Lower Manhattan, as inviting to tourists and locals as it is to the politicians and bureaucrats who run our city. You’ll find the park has everything from stunning architecture, to spectacular blooms, to notable art including John Quincy Adams Ward’s famed Horace Greeley statue.

The fountain, designed by Jacob Wrey Mould and originally installed in the park in 1871 (though it subsequently moved around a bit before being re-installed in 2000) is a particularly lovely gathering spot, and you can peruse rotating public art installations nearby. And when you’re done with the park, you can walk over the Brooklyn Bridge nearby — it’s the best way to get a great view of the Lower Manhattan skyline
