A Dog-Friendly Guide to Downtown

They say dogs are man’s best friend, so why shouldn’t Fido be able to join you and the crew for brunch? We’ve rounded up a slew of dog-friendly spots downtown, including zoomies-ready dog runs, bars and restaurants with pet-friendly outdoor seating and hotels boasting amenities like dog beds and treats.
Dog Runs
West Thames Street Dog Run
Located at 70 Little West St., the West Thames Street Dog Run is a shaded concrete dog run with separate spaces for large and small dogs, as well as water fountains and hoses, plus benches for humans.
Sirius Dog Run
The Sirius Dog Run — named for a rescue lab who was part of the search-and-rescue missions after 9/11 — at Kowsky Plaza is a safe area for pups to play. There’s plenty of seating for owners, along with a dog water fountain, a hose for cleaning and a wading pool in the summer months.
North End Avenue Island Dog Run
The North End Avenue Island Dog Run is notably spacious, offering plenty of room for your pup to run. Located at 300 North End Ave., the run has separate spaces for large and small dogs.
Fishbridge Park Garden Dog Run
The Fishbridge Park Garden Dog Run, located on Dover Street between Pearl and Water streets, features glimpses of the Brooklyn Bridge. It has water hoses and tubs, and reviewers note it’s pretty clean.
Dog Park East River Esplanade South
Located underneath the FDR, on the waterfront between Wall Street and Maiden Lane, is the Dog Park East River Esplanade South. It has small tunnels and elevated platforms for Fido to practice his jumping and agility tricks.
Dog-Friendly Bars and Restaurants
It’s worth noting that with the exception of service animals, it’s a violation of the health code for dogs to be inside restaurants. However, restaurants and bars may allow dogs in outdoor seating areas.
Your furry friend can join you for a beer and burger at this spacious bar with outdoor seating. Treadwell Park (301 South End Ave.) has an impressive beer list — including mini kegs you can get for the table — along with wine, cocktails and creative pub fare like Philly cheesesteak spring rolls and jalapeno-cheddar bratwursts.
Westville Wall Street
At Westville’s Wall Street location (110 Wall St.), dogs are welcome to join you at the outside tables. We can see it now: you, your dog, a warm summer evening and a satisfying crispy fish sandwich or towering Westville cobb salad. Sounds like the perfect night if you ask us.
Hole in the Wall
Bring your dog to brunch at Hole in the Wall (15 Cliff St.). Start the day off right with a coffee (or mimosa) and the smoked salmon lox toast or strawberry cheesecake waffles. Whether you want to share a bite with Fido is completely up to you.
Clinton Hall
The ample seating and fun vibe make Clinton Hall a great spot for groups. This stylish outdoor beer garden located at 90 Washington St. has a large outdoor space that’s dog-friendly. The bar boasts great happy hour specials and creative menu offerings like a doughnut grilled cheese and a fry-cuterie plate. They also have options like burgers, wings and nachos.
Industry Kitchen
Enjoy dinner and a view at Industry Kitchen (70 South St.), a waterfront spot with amazing views of the Brooklyn Bridge. Dogs are allowed in the outdoor seating area. You and your companions (canine or other) can nosh on dishes like Maine lobster pasta, wood-fired pepperoni pizza and pan-seared chicken francese. They also offer an array of beer, wine and cocktails.
Dog Daycares and Grooming
Bark St
Pamper your pup at the Bark St location at 80 Maiden Ln. Grooming services include haircuts, baths, brushouts, nail clipping, teeth cleaning and everything else your dog needs to feel fresh and clean. Bark St. also offers daycare, where your dog can socialize and play with other pups, as well as overnight boarding for those times when you can’t take your furry friend on vacation. During daycare and overnight boarding services, the staff at Bark St will keep you updated with photos and messages. Try not to take it personally if your dog looks like they’re having more fun at daycare than they do at home.
Pupculture
When mom or dad is away, the pups will play at Pupculture’s location in the district (21 Murray St.). They offer half-day or full-day daycare options for your dog to pal around with other pups, as well as overnight boarding stays. For overnight boarding, your dog will have their own cozy space and a staff member who will update you and keep your dog on their usual nighttime and morning routines. Pupculture also offers dog walking services for those days you can’t get away from work, as well as grooming services.
Biscuits & Bath
Battery Park dog parents can rest easy knowing their dogs are being cared for by the thoughtful team at Biscuits & Bath (327 South End Ave.). They offer a full suite of dog-related services including daycare, dog walking, overnight care, grooming, training, full-service veterinary care, transportation and more. If your dog needs it, it’s probably available here.
Seaport Paw
Longtime Seaport grooming salon Seaport Paw (38 Peck Slip) will have your pups looking fresh and clean, with full grooming services for all breeds. Post-furcut, treat your dog to a gift from the salon’s boutique, where you’ll find plenty of toys and treats to make up for the clippers.
