The Beauty of Downtown: Where to Get Your Hair, Nails and Lashes Done

Downtown is picturesque for many reasons: our skyline, waterfront views, landmarks, but also our people. With at least 80 businesses in the district that specialize in beauty and grooming services, we think it’s the prettiest place to be and be seen. Below, you’ll find just a few spots where you can get your hair, nails and lashes done, and be sure to peruse our Shop Dine Guide for a full accounting of personal services in the neighborhood.
Led by owner and operator Jacob Itzkhakoff, Salon De Louie (59 Nassau St.) has been helping Lower Manhattanites look their best since 2005. At the salon, a team of dedicated stylists offer a range of services including cuts, color or styling men’s, women’s and children’s strands. Other special services offered include keratin treatments, scalp treatments and even brow microblading. Customers especially seem to love the salon’s signature blow dry that starts at just $45.
Golden Nail House (25 Maiden Ln., 2nd floor) is a local favorite for good reason. The staff is friendly and works quickly – perfect for polishing up between meetings or during your lunch break. On the second floor, above the bustle of the street, you’ll find a quiet and reliably good manicure, pedicure, wax or any combination of services. Open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, appointments and walk-ins are welcome, and you can pay with cash or card.
After opening in 2020, Skullfade Barbers has amassed somewhat of a cult following with nearly a 5 star rating from hundreds of Google reviewers. With two locations at 105 Nassau St. and 90 Water St., people love the hair cuts, beard trims and shaves at this modern barber shop with old school friendliness and attention to detail. Plus, they’ll give you a drink during your service and promise to have you looking sharp in no time — what’s not to love?
Burte Lash & Nail (67 Liberty St.) is a one stop shop for looking and feeling fabulous. The woman-owned salon specializes in cashmere lash extensions and intricate gel manicure designs. Repeat customers rave about the longevity and precision of the lashes, and say the space is relaxing and luxurious to boot. Open Tuesday to Sunday until 7:30 p.m., be sure to book your appointment here and let them know if it’s your first time so you can take advantage of new client specials.
