Your Guide to Industry Kitchen’s Scenic Digs

As many New Yorkers know, not all patios are created equal. The same is true for patio seats. Some offer panoramic views while others will have you facing a brick wall. When it comes to Industry Kitchen (70 South St.), there are no bad seats; a few just happen to give diners a particularly cush vantage point.

The Alliance spoke with general manager Aylon Hadar, who gave us the scoop on the best tables to grab next time you’re there for happy hour or al fresco dining. First up, you’ve got the row with the best view of the East River that is located on the south end of the patio. The after-work crowd quickly fills this section, according to Hadar, so slip out of the office a little early if you want to stake a claim here. Your colleagues will be most certainly grateful.

But if you can’t make it in time to secure the primo real estate, the area directly behind it isn’t shabby at all. Besides, you’ll be that much closer to the bar when everyone’s due for another round. Now, if views are a priority, the zone to avoid is the first row on the northern side of the patio. Steer clear if trying to impress a date with a luscious backdrop of the Brooklyn waterfront; there’s a cluster of trees and shrubbery that, while lovely, block your view of the river. But if you’re at Industry Kitchen just to enjoy the sun and have a drink, you might as well snag a bench there.

Though for those interested in a lowkey experience — not that the rest of the scene gets too wild — the northern side of the patio is where you’ll want to be. What it may lack in scenery, it makes up for in privacy. In other words, Mom won’t complain about any noise.

Lastly, if you’ve arrived downtown with the intention of people-watching, hit the sofas near the bar entrance. Hadar jokingly refers to them as “the VIP area,” since you get a clear shot of all the beautiful people strolling up to the place. This summer we’ll be waving to all of you from there, with white sangrias in hand.
