In the mood for a poetry slam? How about a poetry jam?

On October 23rd at 8 P.M., the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center presents spoken word poet David Gonzalez In “City Of Dreams,” a collaboration with the Poetic License Band.

The show melds David Gonzalez’ stories and poetry with the pulse of hot Latin jazz for an unforgettable live performance. Gonzalez, also a performance artist and musician, has been featured at Lincoln Center’s Out-of-Doors Festival, in Bill Moyers’ documentary Fooling with Words and on NPR’s All Things Considered. His vibrant stories of personal identity in Latin American culture leap to life when backed by the Poetic License Band, a group made up of some of New York’s best mambo, funk and Latin jazz musicians.

Think of his poetry as “a diamond in a mambo/funk jewel box,” according to the Tribeca Performing Arts Center.
