Meet the Journalists Behind Hit Films and Series at LM Live’s “Investigative Journalism in the Age of Streaming”
Open a streaming platform on any given night and you’ll find endless fascinating, thrilling and often dark series and films based on real-life stories. It’s fun to discuss the twists and turns of these shows and movies but we often forget that behind each story is an investigative journalist doing the hard work of tracking down sources, talking to victims and perpetrators and weaving it all into a cohesive narrative. On Thursday, September 26, head to the Down Town Association (60 Pine St.) for our LM Live event “Investigative Journalism in the Age of Streaming,” which will dig into the journalistic medium’s evolving landscape.
Journalists Robert Kolker (“Lost Girls,” “Hidden Valley Road”) and Jessica Pressler (“The Hustlers at Scores,” “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People”) will be in conversation examining how podcasts and streaming services are reshaping long-form reporting and exploring society’s fascination with dark topics like true crime, scams and mental health issues.
This thought-provoking discussion promises to shed light on the future of journalism and our cultural appetite for true-life narratives. Don’t miss the chance to hear from two of the most influential voices in modern investigative journalism, as well as the opportunity to purchase Kolker’s books, courtesy McNally Jackson Books Seaport. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and is free to attend; reserve your spot here.
