Where to Get Lunch Near the Statue of Liberty

A good rule before you go to any tourist-heavy destination in New York City is to eat before you enter. You never know how long the lines will be, where the nearest bathroom is and how hangry the whole experience could make you.

You definitely don’t want to be rushing through something as majestic as the Statue of Liberty because the only thing you’re thinking about is liberating a slice from the nearest pizza shop. Make sure to know what your options are, especially before you get on a boat to an island. Here’s a rundown of lunch options near the ferry terminal to Liberty Island.

Crown Cafe

The only food options on the island itself is a basic but crucially located cafe right next to the ferry terminal for burgers, pizza, panini, soups, coffee and kids meals. The island has lots of outdoor seating to enjoy, too. (Liberty Island)

Gigino

This outpost of Tribeca’s Gigino brings an upscale dining option to the park near the ferries to Liberty Island. You’ll find a large selection of classic Italian dishes, including pastas, salads and soups. (Wagner Park)

Bobo’s Falafel

This food food cart comes with all the classics: falafel, gyro, fries and more. (737 Battery Place)

The View at the Battery

This upscale restaurant is right outside the park, and it’s also one of our picks for the spots with the best places to dine with a view in Lower Manhattan. It’s set to finally reopen for a la carte service on March 23, with lunch hours too. (1 Battery Place)
