Four Must-Have Lunchtime Options at the Whole Foods in One Wall Street
At long last, Lower Manhattan’s first Whole Foods has made its debut at One Wall Street. It’s got everything: produce from more than 20 nearby farms, a meat counter, a stocked bakery, a specialty cheese and pasta department, tons of Whole Foods-brand items and a full-service seafood counter with offerings from West Robins Oyster Company and Acme Smoked Fish, to name a few.
Of course, while Whole Foods is a great place to shop for groceries, it’s also a prime lunch destination. The grocery offers up everything from hot and cold bars to premade sandwiches to sushi. Here, we’ve compiled four of our favorite lunch options.
The Hot Bar
The bodega hot bar has gotten a serious upgrade! Whole Foods has a slew of a la carte goodies for your selection, like roasted potatoes, eggplant parmesan, steamed and roasted greens and veggies — even a vegan fried fishless filet. If you prefer your piping hot lunch in a more liquid-y form, there’s also a soup bar with a massive selection of bisques and ‘strones (not to mention cornbread!)
The Salad Bar
If you’re trying to cram more fresh vegetables into your diet, Whole Foods has you covered — the a la carte salad bar’s got lots of greens, beans and grains that you can mix-and-match as you please. And if you decide to go with an all-pasta salad container, well, we won’t judge.
The Sandwich Bar
As Liz Lemon once said, all anyone really wants in this life is to sit in peace and eat a sandwich. You can partially fulfill this dream by hitting up the WF sandwich counter, where you’ll find meaty options like Italian roast beef and turkey avocado in addition to meat-free fare, all made with fresh bread and ingredients.
The Pizza Bar
The carbo-load is really the best lunch, and Whole Foods is ready to provide. Their pizza counter comes with fresh slices of ‘za with all sorts of toppings, like mushrooms with caramelized onions and a sausage-and-ham-heavy “meatza” pie. Plain slices and vegan pizzas are also on tap.
