Meet a Lower Manhattan Business: Asphalt Green

On Saturday, Asphalt Green opened the doors to its Battery Park City venue which leads to the launch of its summertime program offerings on June 24 and the much-anticipated Summer Day Camp program on June 27.

“We are thrilled to introduce Lower Manhattan to the exciting and enriching programming offered at Asphalt Green Battery Park City,” said Asphalt Green Executive Director Carol Tweedy. “Asphalt Green helps create healthy and active lifestyles, and offers first-class athletic and enrichment programs, as well as culinary and cultural arts classes.”

The new 52,000 square-foot state-of-the-art Asphalt Green Battery Park City is equipped with modern amenities, including a 6-lane, 25-yard lap pool, a warm water teaching and exercise pool, a complete line of Precor® cardio and strength equipment, extensive free weight and resistance training equipment, wood floor gymnasium, six multi-purpose studios and classrooms, culinary center, and a 156-seat theater for lectures, film screenings and other activities.

Family and individual memberships are available, and Battery Park City residents receive a preferred rate on membership.  Also, from June 15 – June 27, free demonstration classes are available so you can meet some of the instructors and try out their swimming, sports and fitness programs! Asphalt Green is also accepting registrations for its Summer Day Camp, which will run from Thursday, June 27 to Friday, August 16. Over the summer, campers from 4 to 13 years old will take part in a variety of activities, sampling the best that Asphalt Green has to offer including sports, visual arts, music, movement, tumbling, martial arts, circus arts, dance, swimming and fitness, plus field trips and camp games. Fall term starts on Saturday, September 7.
