One Night, 15 Museums

It’s like the movie, except that you’ll be spending an evening at more than one museum — and all of them are in the historically resonant atmosphere of Lower Manhattan. “Night at the Museums” presents special tours and events at 15 museums and cultural institutions, where you can spend a summer night immersing yourself in culture and history. From the African Burial Ground National Monument to the National Archives at New York City to the China Institute, you can easily explore one of the most diverse and concentrated groups of museums in the world.

Admission is free, and you can quickly walk between museums. “Night at the Museums” takes place from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. on June 21, which happens to be the summer solstice (so there is enough time and light to participate in everything). This year, make sure not to miss “Make Music New York,” which includes 1,200 free concerts all over the five boroughs.
