Otani Is Your New Go-To Neighborhood Sushi Spot

There’s a new lunchtime option in Lower Manhattan: Otani, a delightful subterranean Japanese restaurant, which opened at 59 Nassau St. in October.

The eatery makes the most of its cozy underground space (watch your step as you head into the dining room!) with natural materials like stone and wood, as well as an electric fireplace, lending a warmth to the restaurant that will be particularly welcoming as the weather gets colder. With big tables and a quiet, calm atmosphere, it’s also the perfect location for a workday lunch or a working lunch — and yes, there’s wifi!

Open daily for lunch and dinner, Otani serves classic Japanese dishes like sushi, ramen, teriyaki, donburi and more. Standouts on the menu include specialty sushi rolls like the New York (salmon, shrimp and tamago Japanese omelet, topped with spicy salmon, crunch and ikura roe), the Godzilla (spicy tuna, asparagus, deep fried and topped with masago, eel sauce and spicy mayo) and the Lion King (salmon tempura, asparagus, avocado wrapped with sesame soy paper, topped with shrimp, avocado, eel sauce and crispy potato chips). The black truffle steak fried rice and mochi ice cream sound extra tasty, too. The restaurant also offers donburi, teriyaki, katsu and sushi lunch specials, plus, party platters for group events are also available for pickup.

You’ll find menus, hours and more information on Otani’s website
