See 100 Aerial Puppets Take Over the Battery at This Innovative Free Performance
Warmer weather is finally here, which means it’s time to throw yourself into all the free outdoor events that are about to pop off around Lower Manhattan. The Battery kicks off its summer series on June 3 with a new Playspace Performs series, featuring a show inspired by — and performed throughout — its state-of-the-art Playspace playground.
The performances, held June 3 and June 4, will feature world-renowned choreographer and creative director David Parsons, along with members of Parson Dance, 60 youth dancers from Ballet Tech and 100 handcrafted aerial puppets. Expect an imaginative, first-of-its-kind dance performance with the picturesque Battery and its waterfront as the stage and backdrop.
The free performance will be at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on June 3 and 4; following the premiere, Playspace Performers will offer free shows on the first weekend of each month through September, including a showcase of puppeteer Hoby Ford’s ANIMALIA on Sept. 10.
