Your Guide to Pride: Where to Celebrate Downtown All Month Long

This Pride Month, after you brush up on local LGBTQIA+ history, you can make your own downtown memories that will last a lifetime (or, if you have enough fun, disappear the next morning). These six Lower Manhattan happenings are sure to get you in the spirit all month long.

Pride Month Drag Brunch at the Bar Room at the Beekman

Your favorite weekend brunch is adding a side of drag for Pride! Each Saturday from June 8 through 29, the Bar Room at the Beekman (123 Nassau St.) turns into a party hosted by drag queen Maxi Padding. Expect a full drag show, along with a DJ, every Saturday afternoon from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. in this opulent setting. Reserve a table here.

“Love Wins Every Time” Cocktail at Jean-Georges Restaurants

The team at the downtown Jean-Georges restaurants (Tin Building by Jean-Georges, abcV at the Tin Building, the Fulton at 89 South St.) has thoughtfully created a special Pride themed cocktail for the month of June called “Love Wins Every Time.” Cool off with the special drink and feel good knowing that one dollar of every cocktail sold will be donated to LGBTQ+ youth organization the Ali Forney Center in an effort to champion their ongoing efforts.

Portside Pride Parties

Celebrate Pride at the seaside-inspired outdoor outpost Portside at Brookfield Place in June. You’ll experience special sets by DJ Rekha and DJ USHKA as part of the summer DJ Series, and enjoy a specialty cocktail available for purchase at the Tartinery Shack benefiting the NEW Pride Agenda. A colorful outdoor installation titled ”Reflections on Pride” will also be on display at Brookfield Place as a vibrant homage to the LGBTQ+ community throughout the month.

Silent Disco Pride Party

The Pride Month festivities continue with these silent disco Pride parties downtown! Breathtaking Lower Manhattan sunset views will serve as the backdrop to the silent dance party facilitated through light-up headphones. Both events are free to attend and include free use of headphones. RSVP for the events at Esplanade Plaza at Battery Park City on June 15 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and WTC North Oculus Plaza on June 28 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. and don’t forget to bring your ID.

Pride at the Seaport

On June 29, head to the Seaport for a day of Pride festivities. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can get  free General Admission to the Seaport Museum, which’ll net you access to the exhibitions and galleries at Pier 16. You can also get onboard the tall ship “Wavertree,” which’ll be getting into the Pride spirit with rainbow decor, lawn games and even a tarot reader. Other Seaport Pride events include a special Youth Pride celebration from noon to 6 p.m., which includes refreshments and musical performances, and a Pride Ride with the LGBTQ+ sailing club Knickerbocker Sailing Association’s (KSA) annual floating Pride parade at Pier 16. For $15 to $50, you can hop on either the 1885 schooner “Pioneer” or the 1930 tugboat “W.O. Decker” to join a fleet of 30 boats on their way to the Statue of Liberty (BYOB!). You can also watch for free; the boats will pass by the Seaport from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Get your tickets here.

Year-Round Drag Brunch at Toro Loco

And if you’d like to keep the party going year-round, Toro Loco’s (15 Stone St.) typically chill, south-of-the-border vibe is cranked up to 10/10 every Sunday at 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. with its drag brunch shows hosted by “Las Borrachas,” Frida Cox and Jessica Rose. While you’re deciding between the chicken-and-waffle sandwich or the pancakes, order a round of prickly pear margaritas for the table on the bottomless brunch special for 90 minutes.
