Celebrate National Dog Day at Seaport Paw, Now Recovering From a Flood

According to owner May Pilan, Seaport Paw suffered significant flooding from a sewer backup after a rainstorm on July 18, and had to close for 10 days to repair the damage. Luckily, no humans or pets were injured — staff heroically carried dogs in for their grooming appointments from the back to the entrance through flood water — but the shop incurred business losses and had to toss about 90 percent of its retail inventory due to the risk of sewage contamination.
The good news is, the Seaport community came together to help Seaport Paw; Pilan says the shop raised money via GoFundMe, with donations pouring in from current and former customers and neighbors.
“I really appreciate all of our customers, even people who have moved away made an effort to help me. Not even just through the Gofundme or Venmo, people have texted me right away asking how they can help,” Pilan told us. “Even people who don’t have dogs anymore, whose dogs have passed away. They love me, they love us, they want us to be here.”
