Get Ready to Shred

September 16, 2025

Shred-a-thon returns on October 4.

Folks, it’s that time of the year again — our annual fall shred-a-thon and textile recycling event will hit the neighborhood on Saturday, October 4. Bring your old wardrobe and unwanted documents to Fulton Street (between Ryders Alley and Cliff Street), where a mobile shredding truck will securely destroy and recycle all your sensitive documents, tax receipts, junk mail and old bills (staples and paperclips are okay). Shredding hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until the truck is full. Please limit to 10 bags/boxes per person, and no commercial shredding permitted.

You can bring freshly-laundered clothing, accessories and textiles for recycling. Accepted items include clothing, shoes, belts, handbags, hats, as well as household linens (curtains, sheets, towels), courtesy of Wearable Collections. Please leave carpeting, rugs, bath mats, comforters, pillows, large luggage, fabric or scraps of any kind, including pre-recycled insulation materials, at home. You’ll find a full list of accepted items here, and Wearable Collections offers suggestions for donating items they don’t accept here
