The ticker-tape parade is one of Lower Manhattan’s most iconic events, with more than 200 parades making their way up Broadway since the first celebration in 1886 honor of the dedication of the Statue of Liberty (another downtown icon!). As we head into the end of baseball season — not to mention the WNBA playoffs, which could net us yet another parade for the New York Liberty — SNY is airing an hour-long special tonight digging into the ticker-tape parade’s history. As a bonus, it features Downtown Alliance president Jessica Lappin!

The documentary premieres on September 10 at 10 p.m., though if you miss it, you can catch it on SNY through the end of baseball season. SNY says it will also be available to stream in the near future, platform TBD.
