One Week Left to Apply for the Walking Tour Incubator Grant

Ever had a great idea for a walking tour in Lower Manhattan? Maybe you’ve designed a comprehensive itinerary that ties together all of the neighborhood’s public art. Or perhaps you’ve always wanted to tell an undertold story — like how the Coenties Slip Group art collective turned a tiny area south of Hanover Square into one of NYC’s creative hubs of the 1950s and ‘60s.
The Downtown Alliance is providing five entrepreneurs with grants of up to $12,500 to develop five new walking tours. Although no experience is necessary, applicants should display an entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrate paths to success for their tours. Preference will be given to those who present compelling and original ideas that go beyond the typically known downtown highlights.
Each of the grantees will also be provided two one-on-one consultations with leading entrepreneurs in the tourism world, as well as access to a cutting-edge online program for tour operators.
The deadline for applications is April 10. To apply, please visit our walking tour page or email [email protected].
