We Installed More Hands-Free Trash Bins Around Lower Manhattan

The Downtown Alliance’s operations team has been diligently keeping Lower Manhattan clean and safe as the all-too-familiar pandemic rolls along. Their latest move in upholding that commitment to our neighborhood is adding 42 pedal-activated trash bins (a.k.a. Big Bellies) along pedestrian-friendly streets and walkways. 

The new bins — which are monitored remotely to ensure they’re emptied regularly — increase the number of hands-free trash receptacles in the district to 53 (the total number is 178). This is all to ensure regular and COVID-related medical supplies end up in the trash and not on the curb
