Visit the Small World of Puppets With This Free Marionette Performance

A new performance called “The Puppet Cycle: Small World Stories” is coming to Zuccotti Park next week, featuring a team of puppeteers bringing two original short plays to life. The free, all-ages performance comes from the New York City based Phantom Limb Company and was commissioned by Arts Brookfield.

The plays include Elephantasia by Dipika Guha, featuring a pachyderm who dreams of fighting; and Jen Silverman’s Frown Town, which looks at the upside of feeling down.

To fit the environmental focus Phantom Limb puts into its performances, the family-friendly marionette plays will take place on a solar-powered, movable stage set on a specially adapted cargo bike — which will be used to tour the play throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. Its stint in Zuccotti Park runs from August 10 to August 14 with four shows daily from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring renowned puppeteers Rowan Magee, Leah Ogawa and Erik Sanko, plus performer Matt Dallal.
