Evil Hunchback Gives Free Performances In LM

Guest blog provided by Shakespeare Downtown with video from Romeo and Juliet inaugural 2016 production

There will be no winter of discontent for Shakespeare fans in Lower Manhattan this month. Shakespeare Downtown will be performing Richard III at Castle Clinton in The Battery (Battery Park) from June 14th through June 25th.

The story of royal intrigue and palace machinations will run Wednesdays through Sundays. Performances are two hours in length and start at 6:30 PM.

While the titular Richard was willing to give up his kingdom for a horse, you, the theater-goer will have no such problem. Tickets are free and available the day of each performance at 6 PM at Castle Clinton.

Shakespeare Downtown’s choice of venues – Castle Clinton, a national monument – provides an open-air theater going experience unlike any other.

This June, make your way to the heart of The Battery for a trip back to the royal court of the 15th century House of York with Shakespeare Downtown’s Richard III.
