Fall Brings Chinese Acrobats, Russian Plays, Filipino Operas & Rabbit Tales To LM

Get ready for a fun fall lineup of high-caliber educational and culturally diverse arts programming at BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center.

First, make sure to come say hello to us at the annual Battery Park City Block Party on September 20th. You can pick up information on our upcoming season and learn more about those Chinese Acrobats. We’ll be out there all day with flyers and brochures and goodies for the kids. Win some tickets in our raffle, too. We love to say hello to our neighbors and audiences out there on the Battery Park City Esplanade.

This year, we’ll have an exciting array of international events – including Russian language plays, a Filipino opera and, on October I4, the National Circus & Acrobats of China. Storyteller and musician David Gonzalez returns to our stages with his Latin jazz/mambo/funk-infused poetry. He’ll be backed by the Poetic License Band in a special multi-media production on October 23rd.

October also brings lots of family programming for kids.  Peter Rabbit Tales makes the marvelous world of Beatrix Potter come alive on stage with masks, puppets and music on October 17th.  A very special (and kid-friendly) symposium on children and autism takes place on October 19thAutism: Actions Not Words includes heart-warming songs as well as expert speakers who will address how we can all move autism forward and make a difference.

Film enthusiasts will enjoy a FREE night of The Triumph of Orson Welles, which will showcase clips from his many movies on October 27th.  The evening will celebrate  the 100th anniversary of his birth and highlight his most brilliant motion pictures, revealing his complete mastery of the art of filmmaking.

Information for all our upcoming events can be found on our website www.tribecapac.org. Join us on our Facebook page to learn more about us and to comment on our productions.
