The newest, fiercest addition to Lower Manhattan is the Fearless Girl statue!

Located at Bowling Green in Lower Manhattan, Fearless Girl is a bronze statue that stands at 50 inches tall and weighs about 250 pounds, standing in front of the famous Charging Bull statue.

Fearless Girl was created by Kristen Disbal and installed by State Street Global Advisors on March 7, 2017 as an advertisement for an index fund that includes gender diverse companies which have higher rates of women among their leadership. Her presence is to send a message about gender diversity in the workplace and to push companies to employ more women to their boards.

Despite criticism and its original permit to stay until April, Fearless Girl is now allowed to stay through February 2018 with efforts being made to make its current placement a permanent feature of Lower Manhattan.
