This summer, get out and enjoy free flicks under the stars in Lower Manhattan with two new movie series launching this week.

The 28 Liberty Summer Film Series will become a must-see stop for movie buffs of all kinds.  Every Thursday for SIX weeks, Fosun and the Downtown Alliance will host public screenings of iconic movies at 28 Liberty Plaza.  Their lineup includes classic films the whole family can enjoy.  And don’t worry about the popcorn, because Fosun has got you covered.  It’s on the house!

Starting Thursday, July 21st at 8 P.M., follow a trail of Reese’s Pieces to see Steven Spielberg’s “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.” You don’t have to worry about snakes when you catch “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, but you should prepare for “ludicrous speed” while watching “Spaceballs.” Perfect your truffle shuffle for the screening of “The Goonies” and travel to a whole new time and place with “Jurassic Park” and “The Wizard of Oz.”

July 21: E.T. The Extra – Terrestrial
July 28: Raiders of the Lost Ark
August 4: Spaceballs

Brookfield Place is the newest spot to catch Arts Brookfield Rooftop Films 3-night presentation!  From July 28th to the 30th, themed movie nights will be open to the public.  Films start at 8:30 P.M., but live music will be playing an hour before that with doors opening at 6:30 P.M.

July 28th hosts a collection of the year’s best animated short films, while July 29th shows a series of films that track 20 years’ worth of New York history and Rooftop Films.  July 30th will have a special screening of “In Pursuit of Silence”, in which attendees can listen through a pair of headphones.
