Cool Event Alert: The Governors Island Ice Sculpture Show

January 26, 2026

UPDATE: This event has been postponed until March 8 due to weather.

Bundle up and head to Governors Island on February 7 for the chillest event of the year: the island’s fifth annual Ice Sculpture Show. Ten artists/arts groups will be paired with a professional ice sculptor from New York–based Okamoto Studio to bring their ice sculpture designs to life in front of an audience, giving the public the opportunity to witness the artistic process. The show will conclude with an awards ceremony, where one winning ice sculpturist will be crowned for all to see.

This year’s ice sculpture show artists are Takashi Harada and Kae Sato, Rhea Marmentini, Cathleen Luo, Kris Thomas, Lizzy Chemel, Zyia Zhang/Kiril Bejoulev/Elias Griffin/Michael Luck Schneider, Salvador Gomes da Silva Filho, Karina Manta, Wei Xiong and Shanshan Zhang, and David Green. Learn more about their sculpture concepts here.

Attendees can also expect ice carving workshops from Okamoto Studio, a DJ set from Miss Alicia, along with winter-themed treats from Makina Cafe and island food trucks. The event is free to attend and runs from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
