Meet a Lower Manhattan Business: Blue Spoon Coffee Company

09/19/2012 in

Blue Spoon Coffee Company—a favorite among the government crowd and residents on the go— has opened a second outpost in Lower Manhattan to satisfy all of your caffeine and lunch cravings.

Eager to leave her desk job in public relations, owner and native New Yorker Heather Teegarden opened her first store right after September 11, assuming the lease of a struggling tea shop on Chambers Street.

“It’s been such a great ride,” said Teegarden. “There is such an amazing sense of community here. I love my regular customers and am so excited to be recreating this energy at our new location on William Street!”

Featuring the same menu as the original Chambers Street location and a little more space, the independently owned café offers direct-trade Intelligentsia coffee and tea as well as New York bagels and sandwiches served on ciabatta bread. The popular lunch menu also includes several fresh salads, a rotating soup selection, and pastries from Balthazar and other local bakeries (chocolate chip cookies are homemade). The tuna and turkey pesto pressed sandwiches are not to be missed!
