Mess Around Downtown: December 16, 2009

Welcome back to Mess Around Downtown!

Well downtowners, I hope you are using the Downtown Directory to help you with all of your Holiday needs and desires. This week I have five new retailers who have decided to make Downtown their home. Three new restaurants, a yoga studio, and yet another bank join the ever growing list of places to eat, exercise, and do business. If you see any new retailers or changes to existing retailers, please do not hesitate to email me at [email protected].

New Field Yoga – 27 Cliff Street: 212-666-3700, www.newfieldyoga.com

New Field Yoga is a multi-traditional yoga studio in the fast growing residential neighborhood of the Financial District. The studio offers over 40 classes a week. They feature styles ranging from Vinyasa, Anusara, Hatha, and more. New Field Yoga also offers programs geared towards young famlies, including Music Together classes, kids’ yoga, and Mommy and Me. Check out their website to see the schedule and learn about their teachers.

Ruchi – 120 Cedar Street: 212-227-8454,                                 www.ruchinyc.com

This cozy new Indian restaurant specializes in both Northern and Southern Indian Cuisine. Head here for 50% off of their Northern Indian menu at lunch time. Take a date after work for some Mango or Coconut Chutney, Breads from Tandoor, or perhaps some baby Goat Chilli. Yum.

Open Door Gastropub – 110 John Street: 212-608-0200, www.opendoornyc.com

Be hungry when you try this newest addition to John Street. Burgers galore and Duck Sliders are but a mere beginning to the adventures your palate can take here. The management of this new restaurant and pub did a nice job renovating this huge space. Definitely the tallest and longest bar I have come across Downtown. Opened yesterday for lunch and dinner.

Goodburger – 101 Maiden Lane: 212-797-1700, www.goodburgerny.com

This NYC chain has opened its fifth store this week, and it just happens to be in Lower Manhattan. They are proud to be a Green Certified restaurant. And don’t worry veggies, they have plenty of salads and portobello burgers to choose from. Check out their website for delivery ordering info.

———————————–

Chase Bank – 155 Water Street: 212-785-1948,         www.chase.com

Chase built this new branch in rapid fashion. If you count all of the Duane Reade’s where Chase ATM’s are located, pretty soon you’ll be able to stand on any corner in Lower Manhattan and see a Chase.

Extended Hours Alert

Radio Shack at 114 Fulton Street is now open Monday through Friday from 8am until 9pm, Saturday from 9am until 8pm, and Sunday from 9am until 6pm.

I did not come across any new vacancies this week.
