Picture Lower Manhattan: The Sun Shines on Chase Plaza

On my way to work today, the sun’s reflection off One Chase Manhattan Plaza was particularly striking. The 60-story skyscraper was completed in 1961. At the time, when many corporations were moving uptown, then-bank President and Downtown-Lower Manhattan Association founder David Rockefeller pushed to keep Chase in Lower Manhattan.

It’s the 40th-tallest building in the U.S. and 137th-tallest in the world.
