A Rum With a View: Five Downtown Rooftop Bars You Can’t Miss This Summer
July 17, 2024
Summer is for outdoor drinking, whether you’re enjoying a glass of wine at a patio bar or sipping an Aperol spritz a dozen flights above the busy city streets. In Lower Manhattan, we have plenty of elevated drinking spots for folks looking to pair their booze with a breeze or two. Here are five downtown rooftop bars you can visit right now — and if you’re afraid of heights, don’t look down!
Loopy Doopy Rooftop Bar
This upscale bar located at the Conrad Hotel offers stunning views of the Hudson River and downtown waterfront area. Known for its signature Prosecco Popsicle cocktails, the bar has won Instagram fame for its refreshing and aesthetically pleasing drinks. Beverages aren’t cheap, but customers get more than their dollars’ worth — especially when you factor in the exquisite views and chic atmosphere. (102 North End Ave.)
Bar Tontine
This chic rooftop bar at the Wall Street Hotel is a breath of fresh air in the neighborhood, offering up a 180-degree wraparound outdoor seating area on the hotel’s 15th floor. Thanks to the bar’s partnership with brands Fever-Tree and La Fête du Rosé, you can enjoy gorgeous signature cocktails and a make-your-own sparkling drink option using your favorite spirit, Fever-Tree mixer and a garnish. Wines, beers, bar snacks and dessert are also all on the menu. (88 Wall Street)
Highwater Rooftop
Located on the 25th floor of the Hotel Indigo Wall Street, this sleek lounge has a curated list of specialty cocktails, in addition to glorious city views. If you’re feeling adventurous, opt for its espresso martini flight, which comes with your choice of four creative twists on the classic cocktail. Happy hour specials and small bites are available as well. (120 Water St.)
Overstory
Dubbed one of the best bars in the world, this elegant cocktail bar perched above the two-Michelin-starred SAGA offers delicately-crafted drinks from the 64th floor of 70 Pine. Pair your libation with incredible views of Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. (70 Pine St.)
Sky55 Bar and Grill
While it’s not technically a rooftop bar, this eatery and event space at the Elevated Acre does loft you somewhat above the Lower Manhattan bustle, offering lunch, dinner, hand-crafted cocktails and a lengthy selection of bourbons and scotches. It’s a perfect spot for al fresco or nearly al fresco dining, thanks to two sets of glass walls that open to the Acre’s lush gardens. (55 Water St.)
