Spring time is approaching, which means it’s almost time for our annual spring shred-a-thon and e-waste event. On Saturday, April 4, head to Fulton Street between Ryders Alley and Cliff Street, where you’ll find a red Downtown Alliance tent and a mobile shredding truck, ready to securely destroy and recycle all sensitive documents, tax receipts and old bills. We’ll be there from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until the truck is filled.
You can also bring us your old electronics (working and non-working) that you no longer need, as well as freshly laundered clothing, accessories and textiles. The following list covers what to bring:
- Computers (laptops, desktops, servers, mainframes)
- Monitors (CRT and flatscreen)
- Handheld devices (smartphones, tablets, MP3 players, e-readers)
- Network devices (routers, hubs, modems)
- Peripherals (keyboards, mice, cables, cords, chargers)
- Components (hard drives, CD-ROMs, circuit boards, power supplies)
- Printers, scanners, fax machines
- TVs
- VCRs, DVRs, DVD and Blu-ray players
- Digital converter boxes, cable/satellite receivers
- Video-game consoles and accessories
- Cell phones, pagers, PDAs
- Audiovisual equipment (cameras, microphones, stereo equipment, etc.)
- Accessories (shoes, hats, bags, gloves)
- Clothing
- Household textiles (towels, curtains, bedding)
- Ripped and damaged material, Clean rags
We cannot accept home appliances such as microwaves, humidifiers and dehumidifiers, refrigerators, air conditioners or ionization smoke detectors/carbon monoxide detectors (those that are labeled as containing radioactive material); batteries, except lead-acid batteries from uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems, and media like floppy disks, CDs, VHS tapes and cassette tapes are also not accepted.
