Live Like a Roy for a Day With Downtown “Succession” Tour
Join the Roy family (minus the political manipulations, excessive wealth and daddy problems) for a few hours on a new unofficial “Succession” tour offered by ExperienceFirst. The tour takes attendees to several of the HBO series’ Lower Manhattan filming locations, including 4WTC and 28 Liberty’s Fosun Plaza, both of which served as the Waystar/Royco Headquarters.
Participants will also see the downtown heliport frequently used by the Roy family, the luxury condos that served as Kendall’s home, and the Woolworth Building, which was used for Rava’s penthouse. The tour concludes where the series did — at Battery Park, where attendees can have their own “eldest boy” moment on the same bench where a forlorn Kendall sat in the final few moments of “Succession.”
Christopher Serpe, ExperienceFirst’s North America Manager of Operations as well as creator of this tour, shared in a press release that “the inspiration behind the tour came from my, and our full team’s, passion for finding filming sets of our own favorite movies and shows.
“As a giant fan of ‘Succession,’ I constantly spot the filming sites while walking around Manhattan’s Financial District and wanted to bring that exciting experience to our guests,” he said.
ExperienceFirst’s tour will also provide attendees with insight into the families that showrunners drew upon to create the world of “Succession,” including the Rockefellers, Astors and Murdochs. Tour guides will discuss the lifestyle of the ultra-wealthy, including insights on real estate, private jets and the top-notch luxuries reserved for people like the Roys.
“As much as it is designed for fans of the show, there are a lot of amazing stories about the history of New York’s real ruling class, the changing face of business and power, and lifestyles of the rich in America’s biggest city,” Serpe told the Alliance in an emailed statement.
The Unofficial Succession Tour takes place daily at 10 a.m., with additional 3 p.m. tours Friday through Sunday. Tickets are $39 per adult and $35 per child and can be purchased through the ExperienceFirst website.
